Our Values
City Theatre is one of South Florida's oldest professional theatre companies. After 30 years, the values guiding our work are practical and visible in the programs we run.
We invest in Miami's playwrights. Through Homegrown, the Susan J. Westfall National Short Playwriting Contest, and Summer Shorts, we commission, develop, and produce new plays by writers from across Miami's neighborhoods.
We make new theatre accessible. Short Cuts brings free professional theatre to thousands of Miami-Dade County Public School students every year. City Reads is free, year-round, and open to everyone. Our auditions are open calls, posted publicly.
We work with our partners. Our work is made possible by audience members, donors, and partners across Miami-Dade County, including the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, the Robert & Mercedes Eichholz Foundation, and the State of Florida.
We are accountable to our community. Feedback, ideas, and questions are welcome at info@citytheatre.com.
