A message from Susan J. Westfall, City Theatre Co-Founder
Dear Friends,
As City Theatre begins its 2022-2023 season, I am announcing that I will step down from my staff role as Interim Executive Director at City Theatre and transition onto the Board of Directors. City Theatre Artistic Director Margaret M. Ledford remains in her role overseeing City Theatre’s artistic vision and focus. Gladys Ramírez, who joined the staff in 2021 as General Manager, has been promoted to City Theatre Executive Director.
Continuing City Theatre’s history as a women-led organization, Gladys Ramírez now takes on the administrative management of the company including development, marketing, and strategic planning. Ramírez began her relationship with City Theatre as an actor, then director, before transitioning beyond the stage as an arts administrator, most recently as the Director of Audience Engagement at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. I’m grateful that with this transition, Gladys, Margaret, and their team will take this unique and original cultural institution into exciting new directions.
I was delighted when City Theatre finally celebrated its pandemic-delayed milestone 25th Anniversary of the SUMMER SHORTS FESTIVAL this year. It was fun to mount a program of wonderful new plays, worthy revivals, and our Festival Family Musical production of BOB MARLEY’S THREE LITTLE BIRDS. It has been my pleasure to helm City Theatre in so many capacities for so many years. I’m very grateful to Margaret, Gladys, our part-time staff, our loyal Board, our generous funders, and the artists, audiences, and colleagues who have seen us through the last 27 seasons. With exciting new projects in the works and an appetite for new adventures, it’s my cue to exit.
I invite you to join me in supporting the future of City Theatre by donating to its annual giving campaign. Your continued support will ensure that City Theatre works towards its mission for years to come.
