February features a reading of four short plays that explore attraction, orientation, and identity through complex, intimate, and sometimes hilarious relationships between consenting adults. After the reading, join the conversation! Give feedback, meet actors, and discuss the personal impact of themes raised in the plays. This program is open to everyone!

City Reads is presented by City Theatre in partnership with Books & Books. This program is presented for free through the support of the City of Coral Gables. This program is made possible by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners. Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Homegrown: Play Reading Series continues at the Sanctuary of the Arts in Coral Gables. The second installment of this three-part play reading series takes place on Saturday, February 11th at 7:00 pm. Professional actors read four short new works by Homegrown playwrights. This program is free and open to the public.

This reading series is part of City Theatre’s HOMEGROWN playwright development program. HOMEGROWN aims to nurture, elevate, and promote Miami’s BIPOC writers by providing the time, tools, and training to create their own body of work to diversify our professional playwright community in Miami and nationally.  A cohort of eight playwrights work with the Miami Master Playwright Vanessa Garcia to engage in creative training and professional development. You are invited to react to the new works and provide feedback as part of the play development process.

This program is presented in partnership with Sanctuary of the Arts. Support for HOMEGROWN is provided by The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation. This program is also made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners. Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
