Compensation: $20.00 per hour

About City Theatre:

Launched in 1996, City Theatre is the only professional theater in the U.S. dedicated to the development and production of ten-minute plays and musicals. It is among the oldest theatre companies in South Florida. It operates year-round with robust programming appealing to all ages. Until the pandemic the company had always produced live and in-person at venues large and small throughout the community. With COVID-19, City Theatre pivoted from stages to screens and will continue exploring virtual opportunities. Summer Shorts, America’s Short Play Festival, is City Theatre's landmark event launched to showcase short plays and musicals by established and emerging playwrights. This year, City Theatre celebrates the 25th Season of Summer Shorts featuring the landmark Summer Shorts program (June 2–July 3), the family-friendly musical Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds (June 22–July 10), CityWrights: A Professional Weekend for Playwrights (June 23–26), and free Play Reading events featuring new works in development (June 8 & 15). All performances take place at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, our mainstage home in downtown Miami. City Theatre’s educational programs include the Short Cuts Tour, original, short plays about issues central to the lives of young people ages 11 – 14 presented free of charge in Miami-Dade County Public Schools; and the newly launched HOMEGROWN, a two-year development program created to identify, support, and incentivize emerging Miami-based playwrights of color to create a unique body of work, grow the local playwright community, and expand their careers with professional opportunities.
