| ABOUT CITY THEATRE | |
The Internship Program:City Theatre's Summer Internship Program runs May 5 - June 30, 2008 and is designed to offer undergraduates and recent graduates a challenging hands-on, work experience with seasoned theater professionals. Interns are directly involved in the day-to-day process of mounting and presenting the acclaimed Summer Shorts Festival of short plays. All interns will be given responsibilities in their field of interest, when available, but will be expected to work wherever needed. Interns will also serve on the running crew during each Summer Shorts performance. Those with an interest in acting will be given opportunities to perform in City Theatre's Festival Series of Staged Readings in conjunction with Summer Shorts Festival.
Schedule & Other Important Information:Internship Dates: Monday, May 5 – Tuesday, July 1 Interns report for orientation on Monday, May 5 and must be available the entire rehearsal and performance period of the Summer Shorts Festival. City Theatre provides a stipend of $150 per intern per week plus a weekly parking fee. If you are presently a student you are encouraged to apply for class credit with your Theater Arts Department. City Theatre does NOT provide housing or transportation. Interns cannot be taking summer session classes or be employed at any other endeavors during the rehearsal process due to the time commitment required. A dependable mode of transportation is a necessity. Qualifications:City Theatre looks for individuals with an interest in the theatre (production, performance or administration). Applicants should be motivated, energetic and interested in learning about the many aspects of the festival. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Desktop Publishing) is extremely helpful, as is any box office or clerical experience. City Theatre Interns will be part of a very large artistic and administrative ensemble. Applicants should have an excellent work ethic, strong organizational skills, creativity, flexibility, a sense of humor and a positive attitude.
