Audition Information

Each year City Theatre looks to cast acting ensembles for its season of programming. With each ensemble, actors will perform an array of roles in a program of original “short” plays. We therefore look to hire a deep bench – strong actors with the breadth to play a wide variety of roles. Auditionees are asked to prepare a short contemporary monologue, under 3 minutes, for general auditions. If called back, actors will participate in a cold reading session of plays under production consideration.

City Theatre participated in the Theatre League of South Florida General Auditions on September 11, 2007. City Theatre held its season auditions on October 8 & 9 at ArtServe. City Theatre Season Hires

SUMMER SHORTS FESTIVAL
Ensemble of 8 – 10 actors, both AEA and non-AEA.
Rehearsals:
May 6 - 28, Tuesdays – Sundays from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Performances:
May 29 – June 22, Carnival Center for the Performing Arts
June 26 – 29, Broward Center for the Performing Arts

SHORT CUTS TOUR
Ensemble of 4 – 5 actors, non-AEA
Please note: in order to be cast the Shorts Cuts Tour, Miami-Dade Public Schools requires all actors to be finger printed.

Rehearsals:
mid-January, schedule T.B.A.
Performances: February – early May, mornings at schools and some
evening and weekend engagements

SHORTS FOR KIDS FESTIVAL
Ensemble of 4 – 5 actors, non-AEA
Rehearsals:
early June, schedule T.B.A.

Performances:
June 12 – 22, Carnival Center for the Performing Arts
June 26 – 29, Broward Center for the Performing Arts
Thursday & Friday daytime for camps
& Saturday matinee
